Launching Concert Number Four!

Last winter, Glow Music sought young musicians who wanted to share their arts and story. Today, we brought together 5 local young artists who will present their imaginative programming and artistry. I am thrilled to present Concert Number Four: Connecting the Dots!

These brilliant young musicians came with clear idea about what kind of narrative they want to unfold. Here is a quote from Yasmine, the violinist.

This program represents one of my biggest passions as an artist: my cultural heritage. … In these minor modes and scales (of classical Arabic music) that hypnotized my ears, I heard a whole world of emotions: while there was occasional sadness, I heard more colors of excitement, tranquility, mystery, and passion.

Yasmine Bougacha

Yasmine will perform the G minor Violin Sonata by J.S. Bach and ‘Rest Your Hands’ by Anne Clyne, along with ‘misfit’ by Saebyul Woo.

The soprano and piano duet of Meg Booker and Noah Jacobsen is also noticeable. This duet has been working up through their repertoire list since they were selected in December. Their program ‘Mythology’ presents beautiful art songs and an aria that require unceasing collaboration!

Glow Music this year looked for composers at the CCM (University of Cincinnati) Composition Department. Kevin Li and Saebyul Woo stood out, and especially because we can serve our mission statement through supporting their arts, we commissioned short pieces for our selected performers.

It is interesting to see how our commissioned pieces and the relationships made in this concert series take their own journey. Helena Kim was introduced to a piano piece, Image, by Caroline Kyung-a Min in 2021, at Concert No. 2: Breaking Barriers. Kim is taking the piece to recitals and conferences. Last week, I got an email from a piano professor in New Jersey that she wants to purchase one of our commissioned piece for the same concert. The collaboration of and heated reaction on TikTok toward Janani Sridhar and Nicholas Ho were unforgettable. The two world premieres, misfit and Two Sara Teasdale Songs, are some of the most exciting parts of this season.

Arts@ARCO enables us to create this production with far less expense and brings its strong community around the East Walnut Hills. This concert is free to public and family-friendly!
