Application Open for Concert Number Four!

Glow Music Presents Concert Number Four on April 14, 2024 at ARCO in Cincinnati!

We are looking for musicians who want to share their story, connect with audience and build their community, strengthen their performance resume, collaborate with a composer, get a professional quality recording, and get paid!

The Concert Number Four will be a joint recital of two musician groups of any instrumentation, where two commissioned work will also be premiered. It is held at ARCO, the cultural landmark of the East Walnut Hills. These musicians will be invited to MY Cincinnati as guest artists to work with their students. It is a great chance to work with beginners and meet a youth group of diverse backgrounds to see what advanced musicians can do to help with the needs of our community. Musicians will be compensated a total of $300 for participating in both events.

Through the application process, Glow Music will select either two soloists, one soloist and one duet, or two duets for the joint recital. Each soloist/group presents 30 minutes of music. 20-23 minutes will be for their own program, and 5-7 minutes for the commissioned piece. Program order and other details will be decided after Glow Music receives all the program information. Check out the application details below! Applications are due by December 2, 2023, 4PM.

1. Eligibility
   • Students
     • There is no age limit.
     • Students and recent graduates of any nationality can submit.
     • Students currently enrolled in music degree programs in Cincinnati and the Northern Kentucky areas are invited to participate.
     • Recent graduates who have graduated in or after May 2022, and reside in the Greater Cincinnati area can also participate.
     • Must be able to get payment. in check or through Venmo. International students must be approved with CPT and be eligible for outside-of-school work.
   • Availability
     • Concert date: Sunday, April 14 2024, 2-4:30pm. Concert starts at 3pm.
     • Education program date: Tentatively the afternoon of April 13, 2024, for 60-90 minutes. It can change. When we finalize it in January, all performers must be willing to adjust their schedule for this event.
   • Collegiality
     • Must be comfortable working with composers.
     • Must be comfortable working with beginner students of diverse backgrounds.
     • Musicians are expected to be creative and respectful in collaborating with each other and the staff members of MY Cincinnati when planning the event.
   • When selected to perform, instrumentalists and vocalists are expected to learn a commissioned piece in 4-5 weeks to perform. The commissioned piece will be distributed to performers on the week of March 11.
   • Performers (instrumentalists, vocalists, composers) are expected to speak in English during and after the concert. If public speaking greatly disrupts the performance, the artistic director will speak for you.
2. Application Requirements
   • Apply as a solo or a duet
   • Music: 8-10 minutes of music which best represents your artistry and technique. It can be one piece (movement) or combination of multiple pieces (movements).
     • This repertoire may or may not be included in your suggested program.
     • When applying as a duet, the music needs to be played by the duet applying. Separate videos of each member won’t be considered.
     • The video should be recorded within 6 months of the submission.
   • Suggest program:
     • Glow Music is looking for artists who can curate their own program that is unique to them. We are looking for a narrative that can touch each audience.
     • Suggest a 20-23 minute recital program that tells a story. The story has to be your own.
     • Submit; titles of music (year), composers (year), curation, your narrative behind it. (200-300 words)
     • Program change between January. 1and March 11, 2024 is at discretion of the artistic director. Program change after March 11 is unacceptable.
